My name is Tara Fries, and I am proud to serve as the Principal of Southwest Elementary. This is my fifth year in this role. Before joining the Southwest Public School team, I spent 25 years as a teacher in McCook. During my final three years there, I also served as Dean of Students, gaining valuable leadership experience that prepared me for my current position.
In addition to my teaching and administrative background, I hold a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I am deeply committed to ensuring that every child at Southwest Elementary receives a high-quality education in an engaging and caring environment.
Being part of this amazing community is a true blessing. I have had the privilege of sending all three of my children through the doors of Southwest Elementary, which deepens my personal connection and commitment to our school. I am fully invested in this community, our school, and the children and families I am honored to serve.
I am passionate about our school, our students, families, staff, and the broader community. My goal is to foster a positive, supportive atmosphere where everyone can thrive and feel valued. Together, I believe we can continue to build an exceptional learning environment that prepares our students for success.
